How to Prepare for an Interview in 5 Easy Steps

How to Prepare for an Interview in 5 Easy Steps

The growing pandemic has gotten people in a panic mode. While some are trying to remain positive about the growing corona numbers, the other half is just trying to stay optimistic about the fact that they’ll get a job soon. It’s a no brainer that Covid-19 has not only taken away the loved ones of many but has also managed to blow the economy away. Amidst all this, the search for jobs in Goa has been on the rise, ever since the lockdown has taken effect. Even though we’ve been a green zone state for the most bit, IT companies in Goa have had to shift to a Work from Home situation. This resulted in a loss of jobs and even more salary cuts.

That being said, we have a lot of freshers seeking jobs in Goa. And in this pandemic, we want to make sure that any new job seeker reading this blog aces their first interview at ease. This blog will provide you with all the necessary practical knowledge one needs to have before entering the boss’s cabin, to create a lasting and positive first impression.

Plan your interview outfit

Yes, you read that right. Your interview outfit is a real thing! What you wear and how you present yourself will speak much more about you than what is written on your resume. SO select your outfit beforehand, and make sure it’s decent, cleaned and pressed beforehand so you don;’t get late (Another important point.) DOn’t forget your accessories that go with the outfit, like shoes, bag, perfume, etc. It definitely won’t hurt if you tried your outfit beforehand.

Practice before the mirror

A firm handshake and a friendly smile can go a long way. If you do this the right way (and by this we mean by not being creepy,) you’ll go through the interview with the right energy, and also increase the chances of your interview going well. As small and simple as this may be, research proves it to be one of the important steps.

Know what’s on your resume

Don’t be like Joey Tribbianni on your interview (Seriously hoping you get this FRIENDS reference.) It’s fair if you talk about any work experience or skill listed on your resume. Since your resume is all that your interviewer may know about you, be ready to be questioned on anything and everything written on your resume.

Go through commonly asked interview questions

If you don’t know what these are, here is one guide for you to begin with. Practice how you would react to such questions. If you find yourself stuck, don’t worry, there are guides to help you with your answers as well.

Don’t memorize your answers to make it look like a script-read. Be more natural and really understand what benefits will the company make by getting you on board.

Post-interview follow up

Acknowledge the individual who contacted you for the interview. Thank them along with  your interviewer for giving you their time. While doing so, you may also subtly re-emphasize any talents/skills that you may have forgotten about during your interview that you think might help you get the job.

Interviewers have a lot of knowledge and experience, else they wouldn’t be at the chair they’re seated on. They can instantly tell whether or not a candidate is prepared for the interview. So, just follow the steps above and make sure you’re confident with your data, and you’ll end up with a job in no time.
