Important Body Language Tips For Your Next Interview

Searching for a job is hectic but luckily there are many job portals in goa where-in companies list down vacancies for potential employees. But that’s just one stressful part. You send in an email with your resume when you apply for jobs online in goa  and you wait for a call from the company to get interviewed. Once you do get a call you need to understand that your resume was pretty good and has caught the attention of the recruiter. The next most important part comes in when you do go for an interview which is scheduled and that is Body language.

The importance of body language in an interview is very important in a professional setting and it is true! The way you present yourself leaves a big impact on your interviewer. From the moment you enter the company’s door, you will be judged to the tiniest details by different people. Following are some useful tips to ensure you have a perfect body language that will create a lasting good impression.

1) Confidence:

Before the interview starts, try to compose yourself and maintain confidence. Have a good posture while sitting and standing. Keep your back straight and don’t slump. As you never know if someone is already observing you, be it one of the co-workers out there or an important person from the company.

2) Handshake:

While you are being called in, do greet the interviewer with a firm handshake and last a second or two. While you do this, make sure you maintain eye contact and smile. Handshakes play an important role in first impressions. It’s one of the best ways to show confidence. A weak handshake makes you appear weak and uncomfortable which will make the person question your ability to perform tasks.

3) Eye and Face contact

Good eye contact indicates honesty and that you’re paying attention to the interviewer. If you don’t, you tend to appear as someone who is untrustworthy and not interested. But just a tip of caution don’t stare for too long that it may result in an uncomfortable situation. Instead, look at them for a bit and then focus your attention on their facial features for a bit and then continue with the eye contact again.

4) Smile

Having a genuinely warm smile will not only make the interview process better but it will show that you are likable. Imagine being very serious. No one would like that, would they? Hence do your best to show that you have a good personality but don’t go way too overboard with it. Just balance it out to keep things better.

5) Nod your head occasionally:

When the interviewer is giving a brief about the company, roles, etc it’s good to nod your head occasionally. This shows that you are listening carefully and that you are interested in the information that’s being passed on to you.

6) Try to calm your nerves:

As we mentioned before, feeling nervous during your interview is common and it can get you stressed out too but try not to do things like biting your nail, tapping the table, cracking your knuckles, etc as this will show a different message which won’t be liked by the interviewer.

7) Breathe

When we get tensed up it reflects in our speech. Try to take a deep breath instead and speak on exhale. By doing so, you will be able to respond better without sounding nervous. It reduces our heart rate and stress hormone levels.
