Types of fishing you can do during monsoon season in Goa

Goa is blessed with water bodies and fishing is a favourite activity for many Goans. Fishing is a very relaxing experience and fishing in monsoons adds the fun factor to it. Although it is a good time to fish since the water bodies in the state swell up, fishing in the monsoons is not a very easy task.

One of the places to fish at during the rains are the rivers of Goa. This type of river fishing can help you get a very good catch during the monsoons. The run-off of the rainy water carries all kinds of food to the river like worms. The swelling of the river as well brings some aquatic life up to the surface. These make up for the perfect food for the fish who then begin swimming up to the surface to eat it.  You will then be able to catch this fish with your rod as they will get attracted to the bait.

If you like lake fishing then the monsoons are a desirable time to pick up your fishing rod and head to lakes which are smaller water bodies that are found in Goa. Lake fish prefer darker atmospheres rather than brighter ones. So during monsoons when the weather is dull and gloomy you will see that one is able to catch good fish from lakes.

When fishing in these waters go in for Topwater fishing. This type of fishing is one where your lure will float on the surface of the water itself. Since the surface gets broken up by rain drops fish roam in active pursuit of food. So this helps in getting a good catch by using topwater fishing.

You can also use the fish faster method to get a good catch. This method is facilitated by the use of spinner bait which you need to start moving around the waters from one place to another with a fast momentum.

You can try Shore fishing in the monsoons by standing on the shore and casting into the sea. A lot of fish that otherwise do not come close to the shore, come closer to the shore during the monsoons. You will be able to pick them up using bait very easily.

Whenever you are fishing in these waters during the rains try and fish in the more clear area of the lakes or rivers. The rain makes the water a nit muddy and this is not good for your fishing. Cast your bait in the clearer waters. It is important to experiment while fishing in the monsoons. Try and tweak your regular presentations and lures in such a way that it helps you to catch fish. Also keep in mind to fish closer to areas that are filling up the lakes. So areas like drains and creeks are the ones you need to fish closest to.

Go ahead and enjoy the different side of fishing as your favourite hobby in the rains. It may be challenging but surely worth the fun.
